Poems on Pain

Poem on Pain
by: Sri Chinmoy
The pain of the body is often bearable.
Not so is the pain of the heart.
HEART-PAIN AND MIND-PAIN
The pain of your heart
And the pain of your mind
Can never be the same.
Your mind's indifference to pain
Is the real proof.
Your heart's acceptance of pain
Is the real proof.
The difference between heart-pain
And mind-pain is this:
Mind-pain escapes from the body's cage,
Heart-pain lingers in reality's life.
Excerpt from The Goal Is Won by Sri Chinmoy.
Sincerity is a strong
Pain-killing drug.
Humility is a stronger
Pain-killing drug.
Self-offering is the strongest
Pain-killing drug.
Excerpt from Ten Thousand Flower-Flames, Part 46 by Sri Chinmoy.
If you have physical pain, disdain!
If you have vital pain, disdain!
If you have mental pain, disdain!
But if you have psychic pain,
Then try to gain
As much as possible from it.
Every day
Either I vehemently refuse pain
Or I long for a refuge
From pain.
Excerpt from Twenty-Seven Thousand Aspiration-Plants, Part 79 by Sri Chinmoy.
