My Inner Race

O Lord, Thy Smile serene
Remains to me unseen.
Yet every hope of mine
Calls Thee, Solace divine.

My sorrow none to share,
No soul for me to care.
I have lost my inner race.
Nowhere shall I see Thy Face.
